Queensland Track Classic
Queensland Athletics shall be hosting the Queensland Track Classic on Saturday 23rd March on the QSAC main
arena. Events commence at 7:45pm. Pass out tickets will be available to LAQ members leaving the arena from 5:00pm,
Gate ticket sales for entry will commence at 6:00pm,
U13 & U14 400m and U15 & U17 100m
Athletes in these events should note that the Finals will be conducted during the Queensland Track Classic. The 400m Finals should commence at 8:00pm and the 100m Finals should commence at 8:32pm, After these heats have been recorded, the results will be posted long with a list of finalists as soon as possible. Athletes qualifying in the finals for the U13 & U14 400m and the U15& U17 100m will be required to collect an information flyer, track passes and warm up track passes from the LAQ information tent.
Program Times - LAQ rules allow for the programmed event times to be brought forward up to 30 minutes. We suggest that all athletes be at the arena 45 minutes prior to the programmed event time. A clash Marshall will be
operating during the competition, Team Managers should advise this Official if athletes are in clashing events.
The appropriate forms can be obtained at the information tent. Track athletes are to marshal at the start-end of the track under the grandstand. Field athletes are to marshal at the field event once the call has been made.
All athletes must be attired in the correct uniform - please refer the LAQ webpage to view the Uniform and SunSafe Policies. Athletes failing to present to events in the correct uniform risk being disqualified. Shoes - Shoes must be worn at all events. Spikes shoes are not allowed for athletes in the U9 & U10 age groups. Athletes in the U11 & U12's may wear spike shoes with event restrictions, U13 - U17 may wear spikes.
Seeding and Advancement to Finals
Sprint races and sprint hurdles will be seeded with a maximum of 10 athletes in each heat. 200m, 400m and 200m Hurdles will be seeded with a maximum of 9 athletes in each heat. 800m heats shall be seeded with a maximum of 18 athletes in each heat. Advancement to finals for the above races shall be based on places and times; there will be 8 finalists for these events. If there are insufficient athletes to conduct heats and finals, the final will be conducted at heat time. 1500m and Race Walk events will be seeded with a maximum of 24 athletes unless an alternate maximum number of competitors is endorsed by the LAQ Executive. If more than one age group heat is required, they will be conducted as timed finals, with the three fastest times awarded medals. Some Race Walking events may be combined. In such cases athletes will be identified and grouped by coloured ribbon.
Paralympian Exhibition Athlete
Paralympian and 2012 medallist, Rheed McCracken competed at the LAQ Central Coast Regional Championships with the approval of the Regional Committee. Rheed, a member of West Bundaberg LAC for many years, will now
be competing as an exhibition athlete at the 2013 LAQ IGA State Championships in the U17's Boys 400m & 800m.
