Relay Championships
Athletes U7 to U17 compete on this fun day against centres from Kenmore, Toowong Harriers, Centenary, Colleges, Goodna, Rosewood and Souths Centres. This is a FUN DAY and ALL ATHLETES ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE AND FEEL LIKE A WORTHWHILE MEMBER of Ipswich Centre.
Athletes nominate for a maximum of five events and are placed in teams of four for track events and teams of two for field events.
The Centre Manager and Recorders use recorded performances from centre competition to place athletes in 'A', 'B', 'C' etc. teams.
All athletes receive a ribbon for each event in which they compete as well as a track suit patch. U7 and U8 athletes will receive a participation medallion. All teams U9 to U17 placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd qualify for State relays.
State Relay Day
Teams placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd at Regional Relay Championships will compete on these days. Junior (U7-U11) will be held on Saturday and Senior (U12-U17) will be held on Sunday.
Teams must compete with the same team members as those who qualified from Zone Day. QLAA policy is that U7and U8 girls and boys are not permitted to compete at this event.
Senior Carnival/Junior Pentathlon
Senior athletes (U11-U17) may nominate for five chosen events. Junior athletes (U9-U10) can nominate for the required pentathlon events. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed pentathletes only. All athletes will receive a certificate.
Junior Carnival/Senior Pentathlon
Junior (U7-U10) may nominate for five chosen events. Senior athletes (U11-U17) can nominate for the required pentathlon events. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed pentathletes only. All athletes will receive a certificate.
Ipswich Little Athletics Twilight Carnival
This is the only fund raising day for our Centre.
U6-U17 athletes may compete in 1 to 5 events against visiting athletes. U15 athletes may nominate for a Pentathlon event or in individual events.
Medallions will be awarded to first, second and third placegetters in each event. Performance Certificates will be sent to all U15 athletes who compete in the Pentathlon event.
This day commences at 2:00 pm.
This event counts towards centre attendance and achievement points.
Regional Championships
Athletes U7-U17 compete on this day against athletes as for Relay Championships. Athletes can nominate for a maximum of 5 events. U15 athletes may choose to nominate for the Pentathlon as well as 2 additional events.
Heats and finals will be run during the Saturday and Sunday competition.
All athletes will receive ribbons for events in which they compete. Medals will be presented to athletes U9-U15 placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd. U7 and U8 atletes will receive a participation medallion. U9-U15 athletes placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th and those who obtain the qualifying standard in an event final qualify to compete in the State Championships. All 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters and qualifiers will be invoiced for State nomination fees unless the Centre is notified of withdrawal within 7 days after Zone Championships.
State Championships
Placegetters U9 to U17 who qualify from Zone Intercentre Games, are eligible to compete against other qualifying athletes from throughout Queensland. This event will be held at the Townsville Sports Reserve, Townsville, on 26, 27 & 28 March 2010.
The Queensland Team to compete at the Australian Teams Championships is selected from this competition and those selected will be notified.
State Selection
Under 13 athletes compete at the Australian Little Athletics Championships. Whilst recognition is given to individual placegetters, the emphasis is on Team Performance.
Each State is limited to 22 competitors (11 boys and 11 girls).
U15 athletes are eligible for selection to compete in the Pentathlon Competition (Hurdles, 100m, 800m, Long Jump and Discus). The 1st and 2nd placegetters (boys and girls) at the State Championships, may be offered the place in the State Team. To be eligible for selection for the State Team, 60% attendance at Centre Competition ie required.
Centre Championships
All age groups are invited to nominate for these 3 competitions on Saturday mornings.
Ipswich Centre Best Performances can only be recorded during this event.
